Seit 1993 ziehen DEMENTIA ihre Kreise am metallischen Firnament und gehören somit zu den Urgesteinen der deutschen Death Metal Szene. Die vorangegangenen Alben sind regelrechte Kleinode ihrer Zunft. Fernab vom Mainstream, mit viel Hang zum Detail ausgearbeitete Liebhaberstücke.
Auf ihrem vorliegenden fünften Album gelingt es ihnen erneut den Charme der Anfangstage in die Gegenwart zu transportieren, ohne dabei altbacken zu klingen. „Dreaming In Monochrome“ ist ein inhaltlich und ästhetisches Gesamtkonzept mit einer musikalisch breitgefächerten Klangwelt. Die enthaltenen 5 Songs mit einer Spielzeit von bis zu 20 Minuten bilden dabei ein progressiv rockiges, teils doomig anmutendes Gewand um ein Death Metallisches Grundgerüst mit filigran ausgearbeiteten Arrangements und einer vielschichtigen Instrumentierung.
Ohne Zweifel ist auch „Dreaming in Monochrome“ ein Album für Liebhaber. Eines dieser Meisterwerke, die nicht mit einem lautem Knall ihre Existenz verkünden, sondern wie ein guter Wein den Genießer im Stillen mit der Zunge schnalzen lässt um aufgelegt zu werden, wenn sich der Staub und Lärm so manch kurzlebigen Zeitgeistes gelegt hat."
